Stair Lifts

Stair lifts are the lifts built to aid those who find climbing stairs difficult or simply impossible. The stair lift is attached to the side of the staircase, and allows users to be carried between floors on the lift’s seat. They are often seen in buildings that see a lot of disabled visitors, and are becoming increasingly common due to government legislation stating that buildings without disabled access facilities are subject to a large fine. The stair lift is useful in a situation that wouldn’t justify standard passenger lifts, such as a building with only a few floors. There is a range of stair lifts available, including straight lifts, curved stair lifts and outdoor stair lifts. These different types of lift are available to fully suit the users requirements.

It is both difficult and inconvenient for many people with disabilities to attempt to climb a flight of stairs. It is essential to provide alternative means for them to travel between floors, to ensure a normal standard of living and as little inconvenience as possible. They are unobtrusive as the passenger seat can be removed to provide as little obstruction as possible. They can also be used to carry wheelchair-bound users from floor to floor, providing there is someone available to aid mounting and dismounting of the lift.
